MTFA, Karachi United, GB and WAPDA move into semis of National Women Football Championship 2018

MFTA, Karachi United, GB and WAPDA edged-out their respective opponents in the quarter-final matches, which were played at LCWU and MTFA Ground in Lahore.

Model Town Football Academy (MTFA) and Karachi United qualified for the semi-finals of the National Women Football Championship as Model Town Football Academy crushed Karachi Women FC 13-0 and Karachi United defeated Diya Football Club 1-0 to make it to the last four.

MTFA’s Masooma attempted the first goal opportunity and got successful in opening the scoring tally for her team taking an early lead into the game in just the 2nd minute to which Sidra doubled the lead in the 7th minute slamming second goal for the winning team.

The man-marking pattern underwent not even a small change because whenever Karachi WFC girls managed to overcome the pressure and enter the attacking space the winning team’s footballers did not let their attempts pass through their goal post leaving them empty handed.

Moosma hit six goals in this game and her team mate Sidra netted five in the big win for MTFA. Noreena and Aneela also contributed in the victory for their team by landing one goal each, into the opponent’s goal post.

Whereas Karachi United team earned a hard win and made their way into the semi-final stage of the championship by beating the opponents, Diya Football Club 1-0.

The other two teams that made it to the semis are Gilgit-Baltistan and WAPDA as they crushed their opponents Young Rising Stars (YRS) 1-0 and Royal Eagles 2-1 respectively.

Sobia’s 44th minute goal helped GB team to take the lead into the game as none of the teams had more possession owing to the marking and pressure but GB girls won the ball back and quick in their transition, outpaced opponents YRS on a close call of 1-0.

While WAPDA also earned a hard fought victory as the team footballers outclassed Royal Eagles on a 2-1 score-line.
