Wapda FC in National Challenge Cup final

Wapda FC defeated Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) by 2-0 and move into the final of National Challenge Cup at KPT Sports Complex, Karachi.

 
The PFF (Pakistan Football Federation) has been gaining momentum and streaming into relatively much greater appreciations with such an incredibly Successful National level tournament i.e. The National Challenge Cup 2018.

The two giants and equally balanced sides were set to face each other on the stage of first Semi final of the tournament on 7th May 2018 .

Pakistan Petroleum Limited Football Club (PPL-FC) and WAPDA FC in search for a slot in the final of the extremely well reputed National Cup have had a great run in the tournament and had been playing very healthy and positive Football.

PPL-FC never looked to be under dogs throughout the tournament and were not going to settle down the WAPDA FC easily enough, a team which has been the Champions of Pakistan seven times before.

The match started with a great amount of precision and accuracy of man-marking. Slowly, it picked up the thunder and the physical business started.

Early in the first half, a free kick was awarded to the Wapda player in the 14th minute and it was beautifully directed into the right bottom corner leaving no chance for the keeper and the 6-man wall to stop it from going into the net. This brought Wapda Fc straight into the driving seat. 

PPL FC still didn’t stop pushing and kept on looking for attacks and looking for chances but Wapda FC stood firm and did not let the opponents bother their Goalkeeper much with the ball.

Soon after some attacks,still in the first half of the match , a wonderful trap was set up was by Wapda Fc front line again in the 29th minute dismantling PPL Fc off side line. A display of team work was witnessed when a ground through ball was guided from the left wing into the box and was finished using only two touches by the Wapda FC striker beating the keeper, and placing the ball into the left corner of the Goal.

Both teams kept on looking for chances in the rest of the game, where Wapda Fc remained dominant on PPL FC on most of the occasions. Still PPL FC managed to put up a good show and gave them a good fight.

It was a healthy competition over all yet it again proved that there was never good quality of football from Pakistan Football Fields.

The second semi-final will be held on Tuesday (today) between the 2014 winners Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and newly formed Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) at the same venue. The match starts at 4pm.
