McDonalds National Junior Tennis Championships 2017 enters last-4 stage; Boys and girls under-14 singles finals tomorrow
All the top seeded players through to the semifinals of boys under-18 categories after straight set wins against their opponents on the day 4 of McDonalds National Junior Tennis Championships played at Pakistan Sports Complex tennis courts Islamabad.
Hamid Israr made another upset with victory over 2nd seeded Abdul Hanan in straight sets in the second semifinal of boys under-14 category. Winning score of Hannan was 6-4,6-4.
In the under-18 singles category, Saqib Umer, Ahmad Asjad, Asad Ullah and Muhammad Sohaib defeated their opponents in straight sets to move to the next round. Saqib Umer will now face Ahmad Asjad, while M. Shoaib will play against Asad Ullah in semifinals tomorrow.
Shimza Tahir and Esha Jawad after defeating their opponents in straight sets will now compete for the top honor in Girls under18 category. Shimza Tahir was too good for Bismina in the first semifinal and won without conceding a single game in both the sets while Esha Jawad defeated Sheeza Sajid by 6-0, 6-0 in the second Girls under 18 semifinal.
In under-14 semifinals both the top seeded players received upset defeats in the hands of unseeded players. Unseeded Hassesh Kumar with major upset outclassed boys under 14 top seeded Sami Zaib in the semifinal. Hassesh won the first set 7-5 by playing quality tennis from the base line. In the second set Hasheesh did not allowed Sami to settle down and took the set at 6-4.
In the first semifinal of Boys Under 18 Doubles, Asad ullha & Aqib Umer defeated the pair of Zalan Khan & M. Abdullah with fair ease. The second Semifinal was quite an interesting one and witnessed by a decent crowd where M.Shoaib & Saqib Umer won the first set 6-2 against Sami Zaib & Subhan bin Salik. In the second set however, Sami Zaib & Subhan bin Salik regrouped and played with confidence to take it to the nail biting tie break but could not keep their concentration to loose it 7-6(4).
