COAS General Asim Munir to Host Iftar for Pakistan Cricket Team

The fitness camp may conclude a day earlier.

On April 7, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir will extend the honour of hosting an iftar for the Pakistan Cricket Team in Rawalpindi. This event comes as the national team participates in a rigorous fitness camp at the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT) in Kakul, Abbottabad.

Initially scheduled to conclude on April 8, sources suggest that the fitness camp may conclude a day earlier. Following the camp, players will travel to Rawalpindi from Abbottabad to partake in the iftar during the ongoing holy month of Ramadan. Subsequently, players will return home to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

New Zealand Tour of Pakistan

The roster for the fitness camp includes prominent players such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, among others. Notably, New Zealand is set to arrive in Pakistan on April 14 for the five-match T20I series.

The series will begin with three T20Is at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on April 18, 20, and 21, followed by two matches in Lahore on April 25 and 27. All matches are scheduled to commence at 7:00 pm (PST).

Michael Bracewell will lead New Zealand during the tour, with several key players unavailable due to Indian Premier League commitments and other obligations. Despite these challenges, both teams are gearing up for an exciting showdown, with Pakistan expected to announce its squad imminently.
