PTV Secures Non-Exclusive Rights for ICC Events in Pakistan
PTV was not interested in buying the live streaming or broadcasting rights of the HBL Pakistan Super League 2024 and 2025.
The Pakistan Television (PTV) Corporation has successfully acquired non-exclusive rights for six women’s and ICC events scheduled in Pakistan from 2024 to 2025. This announcement comes as a significant development in the country's sports broadcasting realm.
Interestingly, PTV's acquisition of these rights does not extend to the livestreaming or broadcasting rights of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 and 2025, a notable exclusion considering the league's stature as the country’s flagship Twenty20 event.
In an official statement issued by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday, it was revealed that both PTV and Tower Sports, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hum Network Limited, have secured non-exclusive rights for these ICC events. The rights extend until the end of 2025 and include digital rights alongside traditional television broadcasting.

The events covered under these agreements encompass a wide range of tournaments, including the Men’s and Women’s T20 World Cups in 2024, the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2025, the Men’s Champions Trophy in 2025, the World Test Championship Final in 2025, and the Women’s World Cup in 2025.
Commenting on this development, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed his delight at welcoming PTV and Tower Sports into the ICC's portfolio of broadcast partners. He emphasized the importance of Pakistan as a major market and host for global cricket and highlighted the opportunity to reach a large and passionate fan base across the country.
PTV Managing Director Sayyed Mubashar Tauqir Shah echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the significance of securing rights to ICC world events for another two years. He expressed excitement at the prospect of bringing ICC World Cups to millions of fans across Pakistan, reaffirming PTV's commitment to delivering premium sports content to cricket enthusiasts nationwide.
Similarly, the CEO of Hum Network Duraid Qureshi expressed pride in Tower Sports' achievement in securing the broadcast rights for world cricket. He emphasized the company's dedication to delivering unparalleled sports entertainment to fans in Pakistan, promising to bring the thrill and excitement of ICC World Cups directly to screens across the nation.
