Clash Between PFF and PSB, leaving Pakistan-Jordan clash in dust

Tensions have flared between the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) regarding the installation of 'international standard' floodlights ahead of the upcoming World Cup Qualifier against Jordan. The disagreement adds a layer of uncertainty to the preparations for the crucial match.

Amid preparations for the Pakistan football team's FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Jordan on March 21, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has sparked controversy by organizing the Sarsabz National 43rd Kabaddi Championship 2024 at Jinnah Stadium's football turf on Tuesday. Critics argue that, rather than focusing on upgrading facilities to meet international standards for the upcoming crucial match, the PSB appears more inclined towards self-promotion through alternative events.

The decision to host a Kabaddi championship on the same turf raises concerns about the country's sports infrastructure. This situation underscores the pressing need for a dedicated Sports Ministry capable of efficiently overseeing and managing all sporting competitions.

The responsibility for the venue's management lies with the PSB, headed by Director General Shoaib Khoso, who previously oversaw the hosting of Pakistan football team matches during the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Round 1 and Round 2 against Cambodia and Tajikistan.
