Ushna shocks top seed Sara in the final of Subh-e- Nau Tennis

Ushna Suhail outclassed top seeded of tournament Sara Mansoor and won the Ladies singles finale of Subh-e- Nau National Clay Court Tennis which was played at Syed Dilawar Abbas Tennis Complex (PTF).

 

Ushna played exceptionally well to defeat the Sara Mansoor, both players are part of Pakistan’s Federation Cup team and known rivals in national circuit. Ushna bagged trophy and a prize money of 25,000 rupees while Sara received 16 thousand rupees and runners up trophy.

Ushna defeated Sara in straight sets. Though Ushna won the 1st set quite comfortably by 6-1. In the second set Sara showed some resistance but still Ushna was tough to handle and Ushna not only won the set but also the match by 6-1 and 6-3 and became the new Ladies Singles champion of Subh-e- Nau National Clay Court Tennis.

Local boy and young top seed Sami Zeb bounced back after losing first set to clinch his 4th Boys U-14 national title against Uzair Khan of Peshawar. Unseeded Uzair Khan won first set after a good show however could not repeat his performance in remaining two sets and remained runners up.

Sami Zeb pocketed 8 thousand as prize money while his runners up opponent was awarded with 5 thousand as prize money.

Boys U-10 title went to Ahtesham Humayun as defeated Abdullah Azhar in the final. Both young boys fought well in final game. Ahtesham received 4 thousand while Abdullah Azhar received 2 thousand rupees.

Men’s Singles winner Aqeel Khan won the prize money of 45 thousand while his runners up player M. Muzammil received 27 thousand rupees. Men’s Doubles winner pair Abid and Usman Rafique received 8 thousand each while runners up pair Aqeel Khan and Heera Ashiq received thousand each as prize money.

Boys U-18 winner Saqib Umar was awarded 13 thousand while his runners up M. Shoaib received 8 thousand rupees. This may be mentioned here that finals of Men’s Singles, Doubles and Boys U-18 were held on Friday.

A total of 3 hundred thousand rupees were disbursed among players of different categories besides daily allowances and economy class train fares to the juniors.

Prize distribution ceremony was held after the ladies singles final with Former Member National Assembly Humayun Saifulla being the Chief Guest. Subh-e- Nau has held third national event of the year which is an achievement for an organization of this stature.

Subh-e- Nau also acknowledged the support of Mr. Salim Saifullah, Bank Al-Falah and JS Bank for their sponsorship and players for coming in good number.
