Defending Champion Aqeel wins yet another Subh-e-Nau Clay court title

Davis Cupper and number one Pakistani player Aqeel khan got a sensational victory over his opponent Muzamil Murtaza in the final of Subh-e-Nau National Clay Court Tennis played at PTF Complex, Islamabad.

 
Defending champion Aqeel khan overcomes his aggressive young challenger in straight sets. Winning score of Aqeel Khan remained 6-2, 6-4 in the 70 minutes long match. 5th seed Muzamil who ousted No.2 seeded and last years’ finalist M. Abid in the semifinal by 7-6(6) and 7-5 played positive and aggressive game against the experienced Aqeel Khan.

Veteran player Aqeel Khan won the first set comfortably by 6-2. In the 2nd set Muzamil tried hard to avenge but the defending champion kept his cool against the aggression of his opponent and won the second set by 6-4 and the match.

It is pertinent to mention here that Muzammil Murtaza outlasted Syed Nofil Kaleem to lift the boys’ U-18 title in 2016 edition of Subh-e-Nau National Clay Court Tennis tournament.

The match was played at the center court, which is also named after Aqeel Khan. A good number of spectators were present to witness the final of Men’s event.

Aqeel Khan and Muzamil Murtaza also planted a tree after the match at tennis federation complex on the initiative of Subh-e-Nau which is working for Environment and Public Health Concern.

Aqeel khan will leave for Turkey tonight where he will represent Pakistan in exhibition match.
