Sindh Archery Association announced SOPs for Archery

Sindh Archery Association has announced the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for Archery throughout the COVID-19 pandemic after Lockdown.

Sindh Archery Association has announced the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for Archery throughout the COVID-19 pandemic after Lockdown.

Sindh Archery Association priorities safety and health of its archery family, and has established SOPs to provide effective guidelines for the protection of players, coaching and other staff members.

Furthermore, due to the poor financial condition of archers, Sindh Archery Association hereby waives fees of Archery Clubs affiliated with it for the period from April 2020 to September 2020.

The following recommendations are for archers, as well as for any person using the facilities. All government public health regulations must be followed.

Washing hands and cleaning the equipment

• Every archer should use a hand sanitizer or wash their hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds when entering and leaving any training ground to ensure there is no contamination on the archer’s hands. This will reduce the risk of infecting another person. When handwashing, dry hands with single-use towels and discard them into a container. Every archery club should provide hand sanitizer, hand washing facilities, disposable single-use paper towel and containers for the used paper towel or instruct athletes to bring their own sanitizer and disposable towel with them.
• All equipment (bow, arrows, quiver etc) should be cleaned with an appropriate disinfectant before and after their use in the field.
• Sharing or exchange of equipment must be avoided. They can be exchanged after when equipment is disinfected.

Social distancing

• Each person should keep a distance from others to avoid inhaling infected respiratory droplets which fall on the ground usually within about 1 or 2 meters distance. This is particularly important for individuals with health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, or who are aged 65 or older, or those who are more vulnerable to the serious complications of COVID-19.
• Every person should abide by the same social distancing rules. Coaches should also maintain social distancing recommendations, and approach the athlete only if there is a health or safety issue and should wear a mask and take appropriate hand sanitizing precautions.

How to play and move around in the training ground

• Targets: On the field, the targets should be placed at least at a distance of about 1 or 2 meters from each other. Each archer should use a separate target. Arrows must be removed by the archer who shot them.
• The maximum number of athletes and personnel in the same area will be determined by the local/regional and public health regulations in your city. To avoid the presence of many people on the field at the same time, a schedule of archers and personnel should be made, as on what day and time they will avail the facility.
• No social facilities/cafeterias or changing rooms should be opened unless authorized by the public health authorities and in the full implementation of their recommendations.

Competitions

• For competitions: A ban is hereby imposed on all types of competitions throughout Sindh. All championships or competitions will be organized by/under the supervision of Sindh Archery Association and its Divisional Archery Associations.
• For participating in other division and provinces: A ban is also imposed on participating in any type of competitions/championships that are organized by other than Divisional Archery Associations / Sindh Archery Association, without prior permission.

Be safe and keep others safe

• If you experience any signs of fever, cough, shortness of breath, muscle aches, unexplained fatigue, then you must stay at home, and avoid outdoor activity.
• If you cough or sneeze, do it into your elbow or single-use towel.
• If you take medication for anything, make sure you continue to do so.
• Continue social distancing and hand washing or sanitation wherever you are.
Any Archer or club that fails to comply with the requirement of the above-mentioned SOPs will be severely penalized, and maximum penalty will be imposed.
