Pakistan to feature in 20th Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship

Pakistan Volleyball Team is all set to prove their mettle in the upcoming 2019 Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship which is scheduled to be held from 13 to 21 September in Tehran, Iran.

 

The 2019 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship will be the 20th edition of the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF).

The championship would be held in Tehran from September 13 to 21 which, this time, is featuring as many as 16 nations, players from whom will be seen competing with all their might to earn the ultimate title of this mega international event. Top eight teams of this event will qualify for the 2020 Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament.

Participating nations include: South Korea, Indonesia, Kuwait, Iran, Pakistan, Australia, Qatar, Sri Lanka,  Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, China, Oman and India.

Each of the above mentioned teams have been clubbed in 4 different groups among which Pakistan has been placed alongside four-time champions, South Korea, Indonesia and Kuwait in Group D while Iran, Australia, Qatar and Sri Lanka are put in Group A.

Where as Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Hong Kong are in Group B and Group C comprises of Kazakhstan, China, Oman and India. 

The first day of the championship would see Pakistan competing against the strong, South Korea team and this would be followed by their matches against Indonesia and Kuwait on 14 and 15 September. 

Pakistan's Volleyball team has been training hard in the currently-held training camp at Rodham Hall of Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, under Korean coach, Kim Kyoung Hoon, who replaced former Pakistan’s Iranian coach, Hamid Movahedi in May.
