Pakistan blow away Kazakhstan 3-1 & walk into 3rd Asian Men's U-23 Volleyball Championship semis

Pakistan Volleyball Team staged a comeback, defeating Kazakhstan by 3-1 to book berth in the semi final stage of the 2019 Asian Men's U-23 Volleyball Championship which is being held at Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

 

Pakistan and Kazakhstan Volleyball Teams were up against each other in the first quarter final game were Pakistani boys incredible comeback after their last lost stunned the opponents as they took the victory of the match by 3-1 as the final score line.  


Boys from our side did not let their last lost get to their heads and be a hindrance in their latest encounter. Performing with all their skills, they started the match on high pace which the opponent team was unable to match to and lost the set to Pakistan on 25-21. Team Pakistan kept up their display of great skills and collected the second set victory on 25-18 to take a two set lead.


But Kazakhstan men offered some resistance in the third set as Pakistan's side was lacking slightly of which they took advantage of and were able to claim the third set by 17-25. Now the last set was going to declare the first semi finalist of the championship and both the teams were seen stressing over it. But at the end, Pakistan excelled and emerged as the winner of the fourth set on 25-21 as well as confirming their spot in the semi final stage.


Ali Usman Faryad top-scored with 13 points for Pakistan consisting of 11 attacks and 2 blocks, while team-mate Muhammad Waseem contributed 9 attacks and 3 blocks.


The scintillating 3-1 victory over the Kazakhs in today's quarter-finals has earned Pakistan a ticket to the semi-finals, where they are due to go up against the winners between India and Australia. 


To this victory, Pakistan’s top scorer, Ali Usman Faryad said,

“I am happy that Pakistan could get to the semi-finals for the first time in history. We will do our best to win our next games as we are determined to add to our triumph. Pakistan’s players are all new to this age-group championship and only two of them were with the previous team.”
