Pakistan outscores Iran by 11-1 in XIV West Asia Baseball Cup opener

Pakistan Baseball Team thrashed Iran's team on 11-1 to win their opening clash in the West Asia Baseball Cup 2019 at Colombo, Sri Lanka.

 
Placed in group B along with Bangladesh and Iran, Pakistan's Baseball Team played their first game against Iran where the team convincingly won their opening match on an 11-1 score line.  

Pakistan's team boys opened their scoring tally through Jawad Ali who singled on a 1-2 count, scoring a run in the very first innings and then the team soon enhanced their score line with marking four runs on the score board in the second innings.

Pakistan had 11 hits in the game comparative to which Hossein Rahimabadi, Amir Bazhvand, Seyedjalal FarahiBozorg and Mohammad Goudarzi all had one hit to lead Iran. Muhammad Haris was the one to start the game for Iran and allowed three hits and one run over three innings, striking out six and walking zero. Umair Bhatti had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team, J Farahi scored the only run for Iran.

For the winning side, great performances were displayed by the players: Muhammad Zawar, Ubaid Ullah, Ali and Arsalan Jamashaid, who all managed multiple hits for Pakistan and did not allow a single error in the field which might have come in their way to win this opening encounter.




Sri Lanka is hosting India, Pakistan, Iran, Nepal and Bangladesh in the 14th edition of the West Asia Baseball Cup from 15 to 20 July 2019, organised in association with the Sri Lanka Amateur Baseball/Softball Association.

In the year’s prior, Sri Lanka had twice emerged runners-up to Pakistan - in 2012 and 2013 - while they were outside of the top three as recently as 2015. While Pakistan remains the top ranked West Asian team in 24th place, while Iran (53), India (65) and Nepal (69), are placed lower down the list.
