Pakistan's top wrestler Inam Butt to train in Russia for 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Pakistan’s premier wrestler Muhammad Inam is expected to be sent to Russia to train for 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifying rounds in March.

Inam is one of the main hopes of Pakistan for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics if he gets quality training on foreign soil thus to qualify further more rounds that leads the road towards his participation in 2020 Tokyo Olympics. For this purpose, a private television channel has promised Inam that it would send him to Russia for training next month.

Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) is not in a position to make the two-time Commonwealth Games winner able to feature in all qualifying rounds for the world’s most prestigious event which is to be held in summer of the year 2020, as the state is providing to funding at all.

Inam also is a gold medalist of Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010 and in the year 2016 he had won Silver medal in the Men's Freestyle 86 KG in Commonwealth Wrestling Championships. Then in Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Australia, this Pakistani wrestler outclassed his opponent Melvin Bibo of Nigeria by 6:0 to win another gold medal for Pakistan.

Last but not the least, Inam has also won two world beach championships titles and now is set to face Hamid Khan in the final of the Rustam-e-Pakistan at Faisalabad tomorrow.

When Inam was contacted he said that only an oral agreement had been made. He added he had been told that he would be sent to Russia in March. “I had given my sponsor my Olympics plan when I returned from Australia last year after winning gold in the Commonwealth Games. I was told by him that I would be sent to Russia. Recently I was again told that in March I would be sent,” the wrestler revealed.
