Foundation, Nixor win inter-school tennis tournament.

Foundation Public School overcame a spirited fight back by CAS to win the Under-15 group title while Nixor College beat Bahria College in the 16-18 group final.

Foundation Public School overcame a spirited fight back by CAS to win the Under-15 group title while Nixor College beat Bahria College in the 16-18 group final here on Sunday at the Peek Freans Gluco Inter-School Tennis Tournament organised by Perfect Strokes team of Razia Babar and Nabil Hoodbhoy at the Karachi Gymkhana.

Both age groups were decided in the final rubber of each tie.

Rayan of CAS was outstanding and took the fight to Ahmed to win an exciting game. However, Nauman and Yahya of FPS then came back strongly to win the title for their school by 2-1.

In the 16-18 age group, Nixor College levelled the tie after Bahria took the early lead when Talha beat Saad in straight sets. But later, Ibrahim then teamed up with Dawar to beat the Bahria College team of Mobeen and Talha in straight sets to take the cup.

The parents and players appreciated the efforts of the organisers and encouraged them to continue to hold such tournaments in future.

Foundation Public School bt CAS 2-1: Rayan bt Ahmed 1-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-3; Nauman bt Ibrahim 6-2, 6-0; Noman/Yahya bt Raayan/Ibrahim 6-2, 6-2, 16-18.

16-18 category:

Nixor College bt Bahria College 2-1: Talha bt Saad 6-1, 6-4; Ibrahim bt Mobeen 6-0, 6-1; Ibrahim/Dawar bt Talha/Mobeen 6-4, 6-0.?
