PSL 2019 | Pakistan Super League | Schedule | Here is what you need to know

4th edition of HBL PSL 2019 will kick start from February 14 in Dubai. All PSL 4 matches will be played at 3 venues – Dubai,Lahore and Karachi.

 
The successful "HBL PSL" journey continues with Pakistan Cricket Board and HBL where the 4th edition of HBL PSL 2019 will kick start from February 14 in Dubai. All PSL 4 matches will be played at 3 venues – Dubai, Lahore and Karachi.

The opening matches will be played in Dubai while 3 matches will be played at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore and the rest of 5 matches including the final will be held in Karachi. 

In PSL 4, six teams will contest in the tournament and each of the team will play ten matches. Top four sides will play a PSL 2019 playoff. The total number of matches will remain same as of 2018 that are 34. 

Pakistan Super League 2019 will be played in a round robin format, similar to the last season which was the first ever edition featuring six PSL teams and each side played each other twice. 30 games will be played in the first round and top four teams will fight in playoffs for getting a spot in PSL final.

The top team will enter into final and remaining three teams will play eliminators.This time instead of Multan Sultans, the sixth team of PSL 2019 will be probably Faisalabad but its not confirm yet. 

As per Pakistan Super League official website, last eight matches  will be played in Pakistan and final will be played in Karachi on 17th March 2019.

Arguably, the teams which have strengthened the most during the draft phase include Lahore Qalandars and the Sixth Team, previously known as Multan Sultans.

Lahore Qalandars, who have underperformed in all editions of PSL, made the biggest signing by capturing AB De Villiers in their Platinum pick. Another addition to their dugout includes Mohammad Hafeez in the Platinum Category, who previously representing Peshawar Zalmi.

Despite facing troubles, the only franchise currently owned by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has managed to secure the services of Australian Steve Smith and former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi.

Another international star, Ian Bell was picked by Islamabad United in their Diamond category. Kieron Pollard has also changed affiliations, moving from Multan Sultans to Peshawar Zalmi in the Platinum category.

Misbah-ul-Haq has left Islamabad United and opted for Peshawar Zalmi instead. He has joined the team in Diamond category, rest of the players in the category for Islamabad include Kamran Akmal and Darren Sammy.

Till now, PSL 4 full Schedule is yet not announced, only announcements are made regarding the venues, kickoff, and final match fixture.

Opening Ceremony: 7:00 pm UAE time / 8:00 pm Pakistan time

Opening match: 9:00 pm UAE time / 10:00 pm Pakistan time

Day Matches in UAE: 3:30 pm UAE time / 4:30 pm Pakistan time

Night matches in UAE: 8:00 pm UAE time / 9:00 pm Pakistan time

The first season’s champions were Islamabad United. In 2017, Peshawar Zalmi was won the PSL Trophy, the match was held between Quetta Gladiators and him on 5 March 2017. And the current Trophy i.e PSL 2018 Trophy was won by Islamabad United against Peshawar Zalmi in Karachi stadium.

A total of 663 players, which include local and foreign players as well, were available for the draft. The pricing of each category is as follows:

Platinum Category — $570,000 (Rs. 76 million)

Base Price: $160,000
Maximum Price: $250,000
Each team picked  3 players from this category with no more than two local or foreigners.

Diamond Category — $250,000 (Rs. 33.6 million)

Base Price: $80,000
Maximum Price: $100,000
Teams chooses 3 players from this category as well .

Gold Category — $180,000 (Rs. 24.1 million)

Base Price: $50,000
Maximum Price: $70,000
Total of 3 players were chosen from this category by each franchise.

Silver Category — $140,000 (Rs. 18.8 million)

Base Price: $24,000
Maximum Price: $40,000
Franchises chooses 5 players from this category .

Emerging Category — $25,000 (Rs. 3.3 million) 

2 emerging players bought by each team for a total of $25,000 with prices of $12,000 and $13,000 respectively .


Supplement Category — $175,000 (Rs. 23.5 million)

Each franchise has an option to purchase a maximum of 4 additional players for a total of $175,000. The supplementary round picks will all be active members of the squad. This category does not have a minimum or a maximum payroll.
