Rabia Shahzad bags gold in Ralph Cashman Open Weightlifting Competition

Pakistan’s Rabia Shahzad won gold in Ralph Cashman Open Weightlifting Competition in Australia.

Pakistan’s talented weightlifter Rabia Shahzad bagged gold at the Ralph Cashman Open Weightlifting Championship in New South Wales, Australia. 

The event was organized by the New South Wales Weightlifting Association where 15 athletes participated in the event.

20-year-old Rabia participated in the 55 kg category of the event and lifted a total of 90 kilograms weight, 40kg snatch 50kg clean jerk to claim the top spot.

“With God’s grace I won gold in my first open weightlifting competition in Sydney, Australia.” Rabia said.

Rabia is also the national junior champion in weightlifting, which is expected to get the medal in the next Olympics Games in Japan.

Earlier this year, Rabia bagged silver medal for Pakistan in Asian Bench Press Championship at Dubai.

While sharing her views Rabia said: “Pakistan Weightlifting Federation offers no support when it comes to female players. I am aiming to participate in the Asian Powerlifting Championship and I need support from government and federation to fulfill my ambitions.”
