Two National Men and Women Championships successfully concluded

WAPDA and Army named the titles in 55th National Men’s Open Swimming Championship and 16th National Women’s Open Championship which were being held at Punjab International Swimming Pool Complex in Lahore.

WAPDA claimed the win by lifting the trophy in the men’s section, while Army was crowned champions of the women’s events.

WAPDA’s Mohammad Haseeb Tariq emerged as the best swimmer of the men’s event with 5 individual and 3 relay gold medals making 3 new national records. In the men’s competitions WAPDA topped the score-board with 417 points in total winning 13 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze while Army followed them with 344 points with 7 gold, 12 silver and 5 bronze. Whereas Sindh team claimed third spot in the championship with 157 points in total managing to secure 1 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze medals. Also, Higher Education Commission (HEC) got one bronze.

Even though Army team came at the runner up spot in men’s competitions, the team ruled and wore the crown of the women’s event with 387 points with 12 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals. And the Sindh team who managed the third spot before was able to finish as runners-up with 227 points in total with 1 gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze medals. However, WAPDA finished third with 201 points contained through 7 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals. Punjab and Navy teams both claimed two bronze medals each.

Pakistan’s leading swimmer Bisma Khan was declared the best swimmer for claiming 5 individual gold medals and 3 relay gold medals and also made 3 new national records.
