WAPDA lifts the trophy of 14th National Women Volleyball Championship

WAPDA thrashed Army by winning 3 out of 4 sets in the final game of 14th National Women Volleyball Championship which was played at Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Centre in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

 

Pakistan WAPDA and Army volleyball teams were up against each other in the final of 14th National Women Volleyball Championship in which WAPDA once again proved their dominant game play strategy and retained the title of championship for the 14th times in row by crushing the opponent team Army on 3-1 score sheet.

Pakistan Army raced up to the victory in the first set at 18-25. Both the teams struggled hard for single point and were remained tie at 5-5 to 18-all. As for the first set Army players dominated and were seen winning against WAPDA but their first set win did not last for long as WAPDA players did not let the pressure of losing the championship get to their head and made a comeback through their star player Zeenat who made incredicble smashes against the enemy tem and finished the second set in her team’s favor on 25-20 and marked 1-1 on the scoring sheet.

The game then on completely turned the tide for Army team as even though the girls tried to win through the remaing sets but WAPDA players did not allow any space to them and every minute dominated the proceedings getting the third set 25-15 and the fourth set 25-12.

For Wapda both experienced smashers Madiha and Zeenat along with setter Fozia on the right and Rabia on the left played a pivotal role in steering the team to victory in the championship.

As WAPDA lifted the trophy being the winners of the championship and Army stands as the runner ups, HEC team managed to name bronze medal to their side by trashing opponents; Punjab team on 3-0 sets.

Chief guest on the final day of the championship Chairman Pakistan Volleyball Federation, Chaudry Muhammad Yaqoob, Syed Aqil Shah, Chairman National Counter Terrorism Authority, DIG Ijaz Khan and Iranian Coach gave away trophies and gold, silver and bronze medals to WAPDA, Army and HEC teams respectively.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Volleyball Association in collaboration with Pakistan Volleyball Federation organized the 14th edition of National Women Volleyball Championship which featured a total of 9 teams from all over Pakistan.
