Pakistan outclasses India in U-12 Baseball Championship

Pakistan dominated India to win their second straight match in the 10th Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) Baseball Championship being played at Taipei, Taiwan.

 

The 10th edition of the U-12 Baseball Championship organized by Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) started on 13th August at Taipei, Taiwan. Teams from 8 countries are participating in the event including Pakistan, Hong Kong, India, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Japan and Korea.


Pakistan is grouped alongside South Korea, Hong Kong and arch-rivals India in group "B". The 15 member squad for the event was selected from the recently held national school baseball championship.


Today, at 7:00 am Pakistan Standard Time, Pakistan faced India in its 3rd  and final match of the group stage which was played at the Shing-Sheng ballpark. The match turned out to be a one-sided affair as Pakistan won 16-0. The 16 runs were scored off 13 hits, India failed to register even a single run on the scoresheet. The score was 4-0, 6-0, 2-0, 2-0, 2-0 after the end of 5 innings. Pakistan had previously defeated Korea 6-1 at the same venue a day before.


After the 3rd and final match of the group stage against India, Pakistan is placed 2nd in the group behind Korea which has so far won all of its matches. Winner of the championship will directly qualify for the U-12 Baseball World Cup. Before the start of the event,  the team's captain Muhammad Fayyaz had revealed that the team aimed to finish in the top 3 at the Championship.


Pakistan will now play its next match in the Super round of the tournament against the 1st placed team of Group "A" at Youth Park on 17th August, the match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

Game#3: Pakistan 16-0 India (August 15, 2018)
