Inter University Men Football Championship commences
19 universities are participating in ongoing All- Pakistan Inter University Football championship begin held at three different venues Islamia College, University Campus Ground and Islamia Collegiate grounds.
Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Professor Dr.Muhammad Asif Khan graced the ceremony as chief guest and inaugurated the championship. Former Pakistan team coaches Akhtar Moinuddin (Punjab), Masood Kasi (Balochistan), President PUTA Professor Dr. Asif, Secretary General PUTA Prof. Dr. Salman, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present.
The first match was played between Leads University Lahore and Institute of Business Administration Karachi at University Campus ground. The match was started on fast tempo where both Leads University and IBA made some good rallies of attacks on each other’s goals but the Leads University Lahore played well and succeeded in defeating IBA, Karachi on penalty shoot-out by 6-5. The two teams were tied a goal-less draw and even tied on five each penalty shoot-out before stretching to sudden death battle. In the tough competition Leads University won the match by 6-5.
In the second match played on the same venue Sarhad University of Information Technology Peshawar defeated Superior University Lahore. Irfan and Imtiaz scored one goal each for Superior University Lahore against the opponent team to reduce the margin while for Sarhad University, Jehanzeb, Siraj scored two goals each. Sarhad University played outstanding game and won the match by 4-2.
In the third match Punjab University played a marvelous match and thwarted the Balochistan University to score any goal against them and won the one sided battle by 4-0. From Punjab University, Yasir, Imran, Gul Zaman and Javed scored one goal each.
