Victories for Army, WAPDA, KPK on opening day of boxing championship

Pakistan Army, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and hosts WAPDA won two boats each while Police, Sindh and Railway won one bout apiece on the opening day of 36th national man’s boxing championship at WAPDA sports complex, Lahore.

 

On the day one of 36th edition on National Boxing championship, nine fights were decided out of which Pakistan Army, KPK and WAPDA won 2 bouts each while one result was decided on the first ever National women boxing championship.

Mohammad Saeed from Army toppled Railway’s Maaz Khan on points in 49kgs category to win the match while S.M. Asif won the second fight for Army as he defeated Navy’s Asif Raza in 52kgs category.
Hosts WAPDA secured first victory as Mohibullah ousted Sheroz Kachi of Sindh in 49kg category while Naqeeb Ullah drafted victory against Fahim Ahmad of Air Force in 56kg category.

KPK’s Eidullah defeated Islamabad’s Ehtisham in 49kg fight and Uzair Saeed from KPK outplayed Islamabad’s Ibrahim Ishtiaq on points in 52kg category.
From Pakistan Police, Bashir Ahmed was the only boxer who won his fight after defeating Faiz Ullah of Balochistan in 52kg weight category. Hamid Hussain won the fight for Sindh as he thrashed Punjab’s Momin Zaka in 52kg weight fight. Noor Elahi won his match for Railways after defeating K-Electric’s Zafar Khan in 52kg category.

In the first ever women boxing championship, Razio Bano from Sindh became the first women boxer to win the fight on the national level. She outplayed Rabia Bibi from Balochistan in 52kg weight category.
