Pacer Shaheen Afridi Appointed as Pakistan’s Test Vice Captain

Earlier, Shaheen was also appointed captain of the Pakistan Men’s T20 Cricket Team.

 
Director Media Pakistan Cricket Board, Aalia Rasheed announced that fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been made the vice-captain of Pakistan’s Test cricket team for the three-match Test series against Australia starting from Thursday.

The left-arm fast bowler has played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs, and 52 T20Is for Pakistan having 105, 104, and 64 wickets respectively.


Afridi having already toured Australia will lead the bowling attack along with the support of Faheem Ashraf, two debutant fast bowlers Khurram Shahzad and Aamir Jamal. Both have performed marvelously recently in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan’s premier first-class tournament.

PCB confirmed the playing XI earlier today which includes:

Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood (C), Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Sarfaraz Ahmed (WK), Salman Ali Agha, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Aamer Jamal, Khurram Shahzad
