Afridi has no plans to quit

Former Pakistan Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi, while giving an interview to BBC Urdu on Tuesday, said that there are several matters in Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which need to be addressed on an urgent basis.
The 36-year-old all-rounder said he would receive a notice from PCB if he says anything further about the internal structure of the organization.
Responding to a question about his retirement plans, Afridi said he will continue to play for Pakistan in limited over cricket as he is much more fit compared to several players in the national team. He said that the talent in Pakistan is not meeting the game’s demand.
Afridi is currently playing for Hampshire in England’s domestic T20 tournament. He had resigned as Pakistan’s T20 captain on April 3 this year following Pakistan’s poor performance in the Asia Cup and the World T20.
Talking about fast bowler Mohammad Amir, Shahid Afridi said that British media is “putting undue pressure” on the seamer. He clearly backed Amir and urged him to stay strong in England for the upcoming series.
The PCB, in the meantime, has issued a notice to Afridi and has asked him to submit his reply for defaming the organisation.
Meanwhile, Afridi believes politics will help him serve people.
On the sidelines, he would also carry on with his charity work.
“I wish to enter politics, however, some well-wishers have advised me against it. In my eyes, a politician is a servant of the people and he should serve people,” he said.
