PFB set up Baseball Academy & Baseball Ground in Jamrud

Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) in collaboration with the Khyber District Baseball Association has set up Khawer Shah Baseball Academy in Jamrud, District Khyber.

Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) in collaboration with the Khyber District Baseball Association has set up Khawer Shah Baseball Academy in Jamrud, District Khyber.

The soil of Jamrud is very fertile for sports. Jamrud's 25 baseball players have played for Pakistan at the international level. The views were expressed by the President of Pakistan Federation Baseball Syed Fakhar Ali Shah on the occasion of inauguration of Khawar Shah Baseball Academy in Jamrud.

PFB president Syed Fakhar Shah expressed that the academy has set up keeping in view the immense baseball talent available across Pakistan’s tribal regions which were officially merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through a constitutional amendment in May 2018.

Fakhar said around 50 baseball players from across KP had represented Pakistan at international level, adding out of them 25 players were from Jamrud.

“Earlier, the PFB set up an academy for [erstwhile] Fata players in Lahore but now it has been decided to establish a separate academy for them in Jamrud, as a good number of players [from tribal districts] are interested to play the game,” Fakhar said.

Noting that KP had the potential to excel in the sport, Fakhar said the PFB was specifically targeting the province to find the best baseball talent there to present before the world.
