Aqib Javed declines BCB offer

Former Pakistani Fast Bowler Aqib Javed turns down an offer from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to become their bowling coach.

Former Pakistani pacer turned coach Aaqib Javed has turned down an offer by the BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) to become their bowling coach a day after it was reported that the BCB was in talks with the star pacer. The cricketer had stepped down from the post of UAE head coach earlier this year after leading them to landmarks such as Worldcup qualification in 2015 as well as the attainment of ODI and T20I status.

The 43 year old also found himself in the contention for Pakistan’s headcoach after Waqar Younis bid farewell to the post following a dismal showing in the T20 Worldcup but ultimately lost out to the vastly experienced Australian Mickey Arthur. The former test cricketer cited his engagements with PSL franchise ‘Lahore Qalandars’ to be the main reason behind his refusal of the job.He had been announced Director Cricket Operations for the franchise back in April.

He said:

“I have recently joined Lahore Qalandars…..so it’s not possible for me to take any other job”

Justifying his decision,he also added:

“I may be open for a short-term coaching consultant job after the second edition of PSL but not as full-time”
