Wapda, Army win table tennis championship

Pakistan Wapda and Pakistan Army have won men and women's team event finals respectively during 52nd National Table Tennis Championship at gymnasium hall district sports ground Multan 

Pakistan Wapda and Pakistan Army have won men and women's team event finals respectively during 52nd National Table Tennis Championship at gymnasium hall district sports ground Multan Thursday.
According to results, in men's team event final match Wapda defeated Railway 3-1. Asim Qureshi beat Asim Aziz (3-1) sets, Rameez defeated Salman Virk (3-1) sets, Raheem lost to Yasir Bhatti (0-3) sets and Asim Qureshi beat Salman Virk (3-2) sets.
Similarly, in women's team event final match, Army defeated Wapda in women's team final event with 3-2 sets. Shabnam beat Aisha with (3-1) sets, Raheela beat Sadia with (3-2) sets, Aasma lost to Sanam (1-3) sets, Raheela lost to Aisha (0-3) sets and Shabnam beat Sadia with (3-0) sets. 
The various competitions of single, double and mix double were in progress while the championship would be concluded on April-16. Meanwhile, Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) President Sayed M Sibtain said maximum events would be organised at domestic level to dig out talented players. Talking to APP here, he said they were activating district level table tennis associations to get positive results. 
He appreciated the district table tennis association for conducting National Table Tennis Championship in the city and hoped such events would also be organised in future. 
He said federation was striving hard to provide maximum facilities to players by utilizing available resources. Sibtain said the federation was organising training workshops and seminars for coaches and players for their grooming at domestic level. He said they had sent a proposal to the Pakistan Sports Board for getting services of a foreign coach and two international players for guidance of national team players. 
The president said camps would be set up at five centres, including Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Quetta and Karachi, for preparation of South Asian games. He added that national table tennis camp would also be set up on May 21 to 26 in Gilgit.
Sibtain informed that a plan was being devised for holding provincial table tennis championship.
