Pakistan’s top shooters who have won quota places for Tokyo Olympics 2020 will go abroad for training in March.
The shooting contingent includes Khalil Akhtar, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir and Gulfam Joseph.
“We have to arrange training for them before Olympics,” said Javaid Lodhi, executive vice-president of National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP).
“The issue is that currently top coaches in the world are busy with their schedules.
So, we have decided to send these three shooters for training with a foreign coach in March,” he added while also mentioning that they will be sent to different international competitions to better prepare for Tokyo 2020.
“They will participate in two world cups in May and June and they will also take part in Olympic Games Test Event in Tokyo from April 16-26,” said Javaid.
He was of opinion that said participation in these big events is very important for them and they will take part in the events before May or June if they get a chance.
“We are making all out efforts to win a medal for Pakistan in Olympics,” he said, adding that NRAP and its shooters have achieved quota places without any support from the government.
