PTTF asks units to organise events on World TT Day

The Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) has issued directives to all its units to commemorate the World Table Tennis Day on April 6 with fervour by staging activities in all nook and corner of the country.

“Like previous years we’ve asked all affiliated units to celebrate the day and create awareness about ping pong among the masses, the PTTF president S. M. Sibtain said on Thursday.

Quoting the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) he said it was their desire to organise festivals inviting all age groups and genders to make the day a success.

The PTTF chief said activities will be held at Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi and other parts of the country on Wednesday. He said in Karachi events will be held at the Islamia Club, Sindh Sports Board (SSB) Sports Complex, PSB Coaching Centre and Shah Wilayat School.

Meanwhile, Islamia Club has chalked out an elaborate programme to celebrate the day by staging competitions besides inviting former celebrities of the game.

According to former international player and ITTF trainer Arif Khan, the club will organise matches of men’s singles, women’s singles, boys and girls under-18 singles at its Majeed Khan gymnasium.

Players who are interested to take part in the event have been asked to register their names with Kanty Lal at the Islamia Club between 4pm to 10pm by April five. The draws will be taken out on the same day at 8pm.
