Equestrian Usman Khan qualifies for Tokyo Olympics 2020

Another Pakistani athlete Usman Khan secured his spot in the 2020 Summer Olympics after achieving the required qualifying points when he and his horse, Azad Kashmir, won Welby Hills competition in Australia.

Equestrian Usman Khan gave professional display of horsemanship as he became the fifth athlete from Pakistan to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Usman secured his position in the 2020 Summer Olympics after achieving the required qualifying points when he, with his horse named Azad Kashmir, won a competition in Australia. The news was confirmed by Pakistan Olympics Association (POA) Secretary-General Khalid Mehmood.

“Usman Khan” with his horse “Azad Kashmir” put Pakistan in second place in FEI Group F with top two nations move to the next stage.


“It would be very humbling for us, as a nation, as a country, to compete at the Olympic Games” Usman said,

Usman Khan's horse is named 'Azad Kashmir' in Equestrian competitions. Usman Khan will feature in the equestrian eventing category of Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Usman Khan, who has been based in Australia for the past 15 years, recently earned the qualifying points needed to qualify at the Welby Hills event in Australia and made it to the Tokyo Olympics.


Earlier, four other Pakistani athletes also qualified for the Olympics: Arshad Nadeem achieved a spot in Javelin Throw, whereas Muhammad Khalil, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, and Gulfam Jospeh qualified for the shooting category.
