Gulfam Joseph becomes third Pakistani marksman to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

19-year-old marksman Gulfam Joseph qualified to represent Pakistan at 2020 Olympics in Tokyo after competing in the 14th Asian Shooting Championships in Doha.

At the Losail Shooting Complex, Pakistan’s Gulfam Joseph, was in sensational form as he finished seventh with a score of 137.9 in the final of Air Pistol event.

The 19-year-old Joseph became the third Pakistani shooter to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Games after Mohamed Khalil Akhtar and Ghulam Mustafa Bashir.

“Joseph who is only 19 years old has qualified for the air pistol event of the Olympics. He had shown extraordinary talent by participating in the national senior category only a few months back,” Javed Lodhi Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) said.
Previously, shooter Muhammad Khalil Akhtar qualified for the Olympics and will be representing Pakistan in the rapid-fire pistol event.

Gulfam Joseph will accompany another star shooter, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, who also qualified for the games after winning the Olympic quota for Pakistan in the rapid fire pistol category.

Total 931 athletes from 34 nations are featuring in 14th Asian Championship in Doha. There are 38 Olympic quota places up for grabs in this event.16 shooters from Pakistan are participating in the championship.
