Pakistan wins Bronze at Volleyball event of 7th World Military Games

Pakistan's volleyball team defeated Qatar to win the Bronze at the Volleyball event of 7th World Military Games

 

Pakistan won the first medal of the ongoing CISM World Military Games 2019 thanks to their volleyball team which defeated Qatar in the Bronze medal match on Saturday.

Pakistan volleyball team easily dispatched Qatar 3-0 in the match for a third place finish after losing to eventual winners, the host nation of China, in the Semi-Finals.

Pakistan Services Team performed exceptionally well in the Volleyball event of CISM World Military Games 2019 losing only twice in the whole tournament. Pakistan first thrashed Netherlands and Canada 3-0, fell to Korea 3-2 and then beat Iran 3-1 in the quarterfinals. But the green squad was dominated by China 3-0 who went on to win the event as well.

But their spectacular showing against Qatar ensures that the participating squad has a medal to showcase for their efforts.

Pakistan's Volleyball squad that won the bronze includes Anwar Khan, Farooq Haider, Hamid Yazman, Muhammad Yaseen, Abuzar, Fahad Raza, Afaq Khan, Asif Nadeem, Mubashar Raza, Muhammad Usman, Muhammad Dawood and Usman Faryad.

The 7th successful edition of Military World Games are the first international military multi-sport event which are being held in China. It is the largest military sporting event ever to be held in China, with over 10,000 athletes from over 140 countries.

As many as 24 athletes from Pakistan featured in three different sports at these prestigious Games which were: Golf, Volleyball and Shooting.
