Pakistan thrash Iran 3-1 to reach semi-finals of Volleyball event at 7th World Military Games (CISM)

Pakistan Volleyball team have made it to the semifinals of 7th CISM World Military Games by crushing Iran 3-1 at Wuhan city of China.

 

Pakistan and Iran were up against each other in the quarterfinal of group B in the Volleyball event of 7th World Military Games where a total of 10 countries have entered their teams. Pakistan had been grouped with Korea, Netherlands and Canada in Pool B before advancing to face Iran in the quarterfinals.

Iran fell to Pakistan after a solid effort but the final scoreline stood 3-1 in the favour of the national team. Iran won a really close first set claiming it on 27-25 but Pakistani players made it impossible for them to continue their performance and won three straight sets to claim victory.

Pakistan staged a major comeback in the second set as the team displayed splendid play strategy, winning it by 25-20. Going strong into the third set, Pakistan's players had to struggle against their opponents but eventually triumphed over their counterparts by a two point margin winning the third set 25-23.

Pakistan won the fourth and final set by the scoreline of 25-22 to earn a spot in the semifinals.


Pakistan will now face China in the semi-final which is scheduled for today.
