Roller coaster ride for Pakistan at Shooting event of 7th CISM Military World Games

The participating Shooters from Pakistan competing in the Center Fire Pistol event of Shooting at CISM Military World Games 2019 which are being held at Wuhan, China.

 

Farrukh Nadeem struggled with his performance and managed to earn a sixth place finish in second qualification round of Trap Event’s Individual Category as he scored 48 points (24, 24) and then in finals accumulated 14 points. 

While Zafar Ul Haq's performance was not up to the mark as he stood at 39th spot adding 42 points (22, 20) to his initial score to get the final tally of 100 points. 

Pakistan's best display of skills came in the Team category of the event where the Green shirts grabbed 13th position out of 34 nations with the score of 1711 points. Whereas the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifier, Khalil Akhtar scored 572 points (193, 191, 188) to secure 20th position in Relay two. 

However, Pakistan failed to keep up in Rapid Fire Pistol event where Navy’s Ghulam Mustafa Bashir scored 581 points (99, 97, 98, 97, 93, 97) to take 21st position in the Individual category of 25-meter Rapid Fire Pistol event. 

The mentioned players will now compete in the Team and Individual categories of Center Fire Pistol event today. 

The 7th CISM World Games – the 7th Peace Games – are being held in Wuhan City of China from 15 to 30 October where as many as 24 athletes from Pakistan are featuring in three different sports which includes: Golf, Volleyball and Shooting.

With a total of 23 CISM Disciplines and one Demonstration sport, Tennis, CISM also confirmed that at least Track and Field and Archery are organized for para athletes. For the first time in the CISM World Games history, Boxing competitions are opened to female military boxers as well.
