Prolific Palwasha Bahir win double title of 42nd India Club UAE Open Badminton Tournament 2019

One of Pakistan’s most celebrated Badminton players, Palwasha Bashir won the women double title of 42nd India Club UAE Open Badminton Tournament at India Club, UAE.

Second seeded pair of Palwasha Bashir & Tanisha Crasto overpowered top seed pair of Jenalyn Dimaculangan & Haritha Harinarayanan by 2-0 with the final score line of 21-13, 21-13 to win the women double title of 42nd India Club UAE Open Badminton Tournament at India Club, UAE.

In the women singles semifinals, the SAF games bronze medalist from Karachi, Palwasha thrashed haritha harinarayanan from india with the final score line of 21 -10, 21 -12 to reached the women singles final.

Palwasha lost to top seed Tanisha Crasto in the final clash and secured the runner up spot of women' singles. 

Palwasha initially raised as a star on a national level by winning back-to-back national titles, she created a name for herself after bringing home a bronze medal from South Asian Federation (SAF) games 2010.

“I want to improve my rankings this year, it was good in 2017 but lack of funds halted my progress. I am now aiming to be among top 100 so that I can qualify for the Olympics,” Palwasha said.
Palwasha, who has several trophies to her name, is now eyeing to be among top 100 in an attempt to qualify for next year’s Olympics and to achieve that she is aiming to play maximum tournaments in 2019.

The 42nd edition of the India Club UAE Open Badminton Tournament presented by Friends Provident International commenced with the inauguration of the event by Vipul, Consul General of the Indian Consulate Dubai, in the presence of tournament officials and sponsors.

A record number around 730 participants are competing in the Men’s, Ladies, Boys & Girls, and Veterans categories for top honours in the 36 categories.
