The hosts Sir Syed University claims HEC Zone ‘G’ Inter-Varsity Volleyball Championship 2019

HEC Zone ‘G’ Inter-Varsity Volleyball Championship 2019 successfully concluded yesterday with the host university clinching the title at Government College of Physical Education in Karachi.

The first semi final game was played between Sir Syed University and IBA in which the hosts completely crushed the opponents by 3-0 set score. IBA suffered a serious fall as the was not able to earn place in the final of the championship. Sir Syed University marked win by 25-15, 25-17, 25-22. 

While in the second semi final encounter, Aga Khan University also thrashed the opponent team; SZABIST by 3-0 sets with the score 25-12, 25-16, 25-21. Thus two teams that qualified for the final game were Sir Syed University and SZABIST. 

Mr. Talib Hussain , Operation Manager, Karachi United Foundation and Dr. Talat Altaf , Dean Engineering SSUET were the honorable chief guests who witnessed the semi-finals matches.  

The final match saw Sir Syed University becoming champion of Zone G as the team defeated Aga Khan University by 3-0 sets with the score 25-15, 25-19, 25-14.

The chief guests who witnessed the final match were Engr. Shah Naeem Zafar, Secretary General, Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) and Engr. Syed Sarfraz Ali, Registrar, SSUET who also gave away the awards to the high achievers of the championship. 

Now, Sir Syed University and Aga Khan University have qualified for the final round of All Pakistan Universities Championship in which 18 teams from 9 zones will be taking part and the championship will be held in Peshawar from 17 February.

This HEC Zone ‘G’ Inter-Varsity Volleyball Championship 2019 was organized by Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan which was hosted by Pakistan Volleyball Federation.

As many as 11 universities participated in this championship which included: Aga Khan University, Iqra University, Habib University, IBM, IBA, Hamdard University,  SZABIST, PAF-KIET, DOW University, Greenwich University and the host, SSUET.
