Army retains Khawar Shah National Women Baseball Championship (2018) title

Army won on a close call against WAPDA 13-12 in the final of 15th Khawar Shah National Women Baseball Championship that ended successfully at Aashiq Hussain Baseball Stadium, Lahore.

 
The final of the 15th Khawar Shah National Women Baseball Championship was played between the defending champions Army and WAPDA in which Pakistan Army played to their fullest and won the match on a close call of 13 – 12 score.  

The Final Match consisted of 7 Innings in which Army’s Attia Ishaq scored 3 runs while Hira Nassar and Rabia Shahid contributed with 2 runs each. Also, Attia Saif, Irum Khalid, Fariha Nayab, Humaira Khan, Rashida and Zahida bestowed with each of them scoring 1 run.

However, excellent efforts from the runner up team was also witnessed through their player Noreen who scored most, 3 runs whereas Ayesha Ejaz, Saira Zulfiqar and Umm-e-Hani contributed with 2 runs each while Zainab, Madiha Gujjar and Sidra managed 1 run each. But as the team lost by only 1 run difference it was a huge loss for them as they returned home with teary eyes at the end of the game.

Attia Saif from Pakistan Army was declared the Best Player of the championship and received The Khawar Shah Award from the chief guest, Mr. Shukat Javed Chairman Pakistan Federation Baseball.

Army stands at the top spot claiming gold medal as well as the trophy of the championship which the team was awarded by Mr. Shaukat Javed whereas WAPDA being the runner up team attained silver medal by Brig. Zaheer. The bronze medal went to HEC team which was awarded to them by Muhammad Hamood Lakhvi.

Mr. Shukat Javed Chairman Pakistan Federation Baseball was the chief guest in the honorable presence of Brig. Zaheer Director Army Sports, Muhammad Hamood Lakhvi President Okara Baseball Association, Miss Sadia Alvi Chairperson Women Wing, Imran Majeed Khan.

Before the Prize Distribution Ceremony, every person in the field offered Fatiha for Syed Khawar Shah (Late) former President Pakistan Federation Baseball.

At the end, Mr. Shaukat Javed, Chairman PFB appreciated the game of both teams and wishes that Pakistan Women Baseball Team bring laurels for Pakistan from abroad. He said that today’s match show the improvement and development of Women Baseball in Pakistan under the supervision of new leadership.

Syed Fakhar Ali Shah, President Pakistan Federation Baseball also informed that Federation will hold National Training Camp of Pakistan Women Baseball Team for the participation in 2nd Asian Women’s Baseball Championship 2019 in Korea.
