13th Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship continued in full swing

A total of 80 to 85 Teams from different provinces, departments and services of Pakistan are participating in this event which is being held at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Board in Islamabad.

 

Pakistan Taekwondo Federation has organized the 13th edition of Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship which is to be continued till 8th of November.

Fights for both male and female fighters are contested in four different age-groups which are divided in both male and female categories making a total of 8 different weight categories i.e. Senior, U-17, U-14 and Under-10.

This event is being sponsored by AF Powertek Engineering FZC, Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Ltd, CE&MD New City Housing Society, Korean Embassy, Islamabad and special patronage of DG PSB. Opening ceremony was hosted by Lt Gen Javed Iqbal, HI (M), (Retd), Chief Executive & Managing Director FFBL/Patron PTF and Management of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation and the chief guest of the said ceremony was Kwak Sung-Kyu, Ambassador Republic of Korea Islamabad.

Iqra, Fiza and Ayesha topped the table with winning gold medals in their respective age and weight category on the first day of the championship with securing 15 points each. Whereas on the second day in which competitions for male poomsae event were conducted, Waseem Javed, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ghulam Abbas and Arif Mansoor stands at the first spot with 15 points each in their -20, -30, -40 and -50 kg weight categories of individual poomsae event, respectively. And in the female poomsae event, Naqash Hamdani belonging to Army, secured the first spot with 15 points.

Sharing his views, Kwak Sung-kyu, Ambassador of Republic of Korea, said: “I am very pleased to be here on the occasion of the grand opening ceremony in the midst of on-going versatile and uneasy security situations, I thank you all for coming. My thanks also go to the federation for its endeavors in organizing this event. I understand this is the biggest Taekwondo competition in Pakistan with more than 1,400 coaches and players coming from everywhere across the country.”
