Pakistan open Asian Games Volleyball campaign with comfortable win over Mongolia

Pakistan won against Mongolia in straight sets by 3-0 in their first Volleyball match of 18th Asian Games in Indonesia.

 

In the first match of Men's Volleyball Pool B, Pakistan defeated Mongolia in straight sets with a score of 25-16, 25-19, 25-14  in a match that last just over an hour. Pakistan is placed in Men's preliminary Pool B with Mongolia and Iran.

The two teams closely followed each other in initial moments of the first set which opened with the Mongolian serve. At 5-5, Pakistan got the break when they got the first 3 point lead at 8-5. The Mongolian side closely chased the Pakistani lead as they closed in at 17-15 but due to a dismal performance they could only take one more point of the last 9 as Pakistan won the set at 25-16.

Mongolia got the early advantage in the second set when they got an initial lead at 3-6,  which was further extended to 4-9. The Pakistani side made a comeback from 8-12 to level the scores at 12-12. The scores leveled again at 17-all for the last time when Pakistan took the defining 5 consecutive points on serve from Mubashir Raza. The second set was sealed at 25-19.

The 3rd set was pretty much one-sided as Pakistan dominated from the start and lead at 7-0 with some excellent Spikes from Fahad Raza. A plausible performance from the Pakistan team sealed the set at 25-14.

Aimal Khan scored the most for Pakistan with 13 points. Murad Jehan and Aimal Khan scored 10 points each on Spikes.

Pakistan will now face Iran tomorrow in their second match of the tournament at 02:30 Pakistan Standard Time.
