Kamran Akmal helps Federal Area rout KPK in Pakistan ODI cup

Kamran Akmal steers Federal Area to victory against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the second match of ongoing Pakistan Cup One-day tournament at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.

 

Federal Area won the toss and their skipper Kamran Akmal decided to bat first against KPK. Akmal along with Awais Zia came to open from Federal Area but Awais Zia departed quickly on the individual score of just 5 runs. Abid Ali came to bat on one-down position and posted 52 runs in just 57 devilries with 3 fours and 1 six and added 152 runs for second wicket with Kamran Akmal. As Abid departed, Sohaib Maqsood joined Akmal in the middle and meanwhile Kamran Akmal completed his 81 balls century and he was removed by Saud Shakeel in 105.

Sohaib Maqsood 54, Husain Talat 31, Agha Salman 36 also contributed in the team score but towards the end, Saad Nasim played a blinder of unbeaten 78 runs in just 42 balls with the help of 6 boundaries and 5 maximums and helped Federal Area to post massive 373 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs.

Sadaf Hussain remained the most successful bowler with 3 wickets while Hasan khan, Hammad Azam and Saud Shakeel picked up 1 wicket each from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

KPK received a target of 374 runs with an asking rate of 7.48 runs per over in 50 overs. Shan Masood and Khurram Manzoor opened from KPK but Waqas Maqsood removed Shan Masood on just 14 runs that allows skipper Mohammad Hafeez to join Khurram Manzoor in the middle and both the batsmen added 113 runs and Mohammad Hafeez was sent back by Hussain Tallat. Hafeez scored 76 runs in 58 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes.

As Hafeez departed, KPK’s batting line up started shaking down as they failed to make big partnerships to comeback in the game. On the other side, bowlers of Federal Area started building pressure and wrapped up the innings of KPK on 259 runs in 43.1 overs to win the match by a massive 114 runs. Mohammad Hafeez 76, Khurram Manzoor 60 and Hammad Azam 37 were the main runs scorers for KPK.

Waqas Maqsood picked up 3 while Usman Khan, Raza Hasan, Hussain Talat and Agha Salman got 1 wicket each for Federal Area. Kamran Akmal was given man of the match award for his glittering innings.
