Rameez & Fatima win their matches in Gold Coast Table Tennis

Pakistani players Muhammad Rameez and Fatima Khan defeated their opponents in Men’s and Women Singles Table tennis in the XXI Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Australia.

In Men's Singles Group 9 - Game 1, Muhammad Rameez defeated his opponent Kristain Doughty of Barbados by 4-0. In the first game right handed Rameez faced some resistance from Kristain in a tightly contested game but Rameez seized the initiative on his serve at 8-8 to win the game by 11-9. In the second game, the Pakistani player from Swat did not allow his opponent to play freely as he took 7 of his 8 service points and ended the game with 5 consecutive points at 11-4. Rameez kept the pressure on the 21 year old from Bardadon in the 3rd game also as he maintained the lead from the early points to win it by 11-7. The only real resistance from DOUGHTY Kristian came in the 4th games when he was leading 6-9, but Rameez keep his cool and played confidently to overcome the deficit of 3 points and won the game and match by 4-0 in 21 minutes.

Rameez will compete against Brian Ndunda Mutua of Kenya in the other match of Group 9 at 2:50 PM (PST) Oxenford Studios, TT Table 8.

In women Singles Group 5- Game 2, Pakistani Table Tennis star Fatima Khan played marvelously as she defeated his opponent Angelisa Freeman of Saint Kitts & Nevis(SKN) by 4-1. In the first three games Seventeen years old Fatima faced fair bit of resistance in all the games from the player from SKN but managed to win them as she took 3-0 lead. The young girl from Lahore lost her concentration in the 4th game to loose it 3-11, but bounced back strongly to take the 5th game 11-5 to win the match by 4-1. 

Tomorrow Fatima khan & Muhammad Rameez will team up to face Ho Wan Kau Elodie & Taucoory Rhikesh in Mixed Doubles Round of 64 at 5:05 PM (PST).
