KP Youth Badminton Championship continue in full swing

A large number of players are participating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Badminton Championship at Wadood Hall, Qayyum Sports Complex.

 
In the opening match of women’s singles Urooj , Sumaiya, Noreen and Iqra competed marvelously as Urooj outplayed Uzma in thrilling encounter where the score line was 21-17, 19-21 and 21-18 while Sumaiya trashed Irum by 2-0 with a score of 21-17 and 21-19. Noreen overpowered Nazish and Iqra defeated Irish Khan in straight sets. 

In the boys under-15 Miqal, Salman, Umair, Sana Ullah succeeded to make their places in the quarterfinal. Miqal outclassed Haider Ali by 2-1, the score was 17-21, 21-16 and 21-15 while Salman defeated Faisal 2-0 by 21-18, 21-17, Umair defeated Nouman 2-0 by 21-19, 21-18 and Sana Ullah defeated Abdal by 2-0 with the score was 21-19, 21-17.

In the Men category Haroon Rehman took berth into the quarterfinal along with Ihtisham, Zuhaib Khalil, Hamza Ibrahim and Tahir Khan. Haroon Rehman defeated Faraz by 2-1 in a thrilling match with a score line of 21-23, 23-21 and 21-19. Both Haroon and Faraz gave each other a tough fight. Ihtisham defeated Nabil of Pakistan Army by 2-0, the score was 21-19 and 21-19. Current Under-18 National Champion Zuhaib Khalil defeated Usman by 2-0, the score was 21-19 and 21-17.

Director General Youth Asfandiyar Khan Khattak graced the cermony as chief guest and inaugurated the Championship in which a total of 80 players from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are taking part.
