WAPDA seals Table Tennis Title
Wapda triumph both men and women team events by defeating their opponent team Punjab by 3-1 and Chromatex-A by 3-0 in the Pakistan Chromatex Masters Circuit Table Tennis Tournament at Chromatex TT Club Lahore.
Defending champions WAPDA once again displayed its dominance over the opponents in the game as they defeated Punjab and Chromatex-A to retain their titles. This tournament will also serve as trials for the selection of Pakistan women and men teams for the World Table Tennis Championships being held in Sweden in April.
In the men’s team event final, former national champion and top seed player Asim Qureshi played crucial role in WAPDA's victory against Punjab 3-0. Asim Qureshi outplayed Mohammad Hamza of Punjab by 3-0. Hafeez-ur-Rehman of Punjab equitized the score edging Rameez Khan of Wapda 3-2 but Bilal Yasin again put Wapda ahead 2-1 by defeating Abdullah Nazir of Punjab 3-2. Asim then sealed the fate of the match when he overcames Mohammad Hafeez of Punjab 3-0.
In the women’s event, Wapda’s Aysha Sharjeel showed outstanding performance as she outclassed Nosheen Waseem of Chromatex-A 3-0. Sadia Falaksher doubled Wapda’s lead by beating Fatima Khan 3-1 while Sanam Yasin completed the tally blanking Kulsoom Khan of Chromatex 3-0.
In the men’s team event semi-finals, Wapda outplayed Chromatex-B 3-0 while Punjab defeated Chromatex-A 3-0.
In the women’s team event semi-finals, Wapda defeated Chromatex-B 3-0 and Chromatex-A outclassed Punjab 3-0.
