Karachi Whites tops National ODI cup for regions

Karachi whites tops the table followed by Rawalpindi and Peshawar ended on third after playing 4 matches each in the National ODI cup for regions.

 

Four more matches were played lately where Lahore Blues outplayed Islamabad, Peshawar defeated Faisalabad, Karachi crushes FATA and Rawalpindi humbles Lahore whites in the ongoing National ODI cup for regions.

In the first match, Lahore blues put Islamabad to bat after winning the toss. Shan Masood from Islamabad remained not out on 128 runs while Shahid Yousaf contributed 44 runs as Islamabad posted 254 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 50 overs. Aizaz Cheema grabbed 2 while Bilawal Iqbal, Salman Ali and Qaisar Ashraf picked one wicket each from Lahore. Blues chased the target of 255 runs in 48.5 overs for the loss of 3 wickets and won the match by 7 wickets, courtesy brilliant unbeaten 100 by Mohammad Saad and 62 runs by Waqas Saleem. Shahzad Azam and Nauman Ali got 1 wicket each from Islamabad.

In the second match played between Peshawar and Faisalabad, Peshawar won the toss and choose to field first. Faisalabad were bowled out on 248 runs in 50 overs as Abdul Samad scored 62 while Raees Ahmed contributed 51 runs. Imran Khan picked up 3 wickets while Israrullah 2 and Tajwali, Azizullah got 1 wicket. In reply, Peshawar chased the target in 49.1 overs for the loss of 6 wickets to win the match by 4 wickets. Sahibzada Farhan 72 and Adil Amin 53 not out were top scorers from Peshawar while Asad Raza picked up 2 wickets from Faisalabad and Waqas Maqsood, Ahmed Safi and Muhammad Imran got 1 wicket.

Another match was played between Karachi whites and FATA where Karachi whites won the toss and elected to field first. Batting first, FATA were bowled out on just 120 runs in 34 overs. Sohail Akhtar 24 and Mohammad Irfan (jr) 19 were top scorers. Anwar Ali and Zia ul Haq got 3 apiece while Rahat Ali and Mohammad Asghar got 2 each. Karachi whites achieved the target without losing any wicket as both the openers Khurram Manzoor and Danish Ali remained unbeaten on 61, 60 respectively as Karachi whites won the match by 10 wickets.

Last match of the day was played between Rawalpindi and Lahore whites. Rawalpindi won the toss and put Lahore whites for bat and Rawalpindi wrapped Lahore’s innings on 190 runs in 48.1 overs. Mohammad Mohsin 37 and Imam ul Haq 30 were main runs scorers from Lahore whites. Yasir Ali and Umir Amin got 3 wickets each while Sohail Tanvir got 2 and Kashif Bhatti and Iftikhar Ahmed got 1 wicket each. Rawalpindi in reply chased the required runs in 35.1 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets and won the match by 8 wickets. Umar Amin scored 84 not out while Iftikhar Ahmed contributed 59 runs from Rawalpindi.
