National One-day Cup for Regions starts tomorrow

The matches of National odi cup for will be played in the grounds of Rawalpindi and Islamabad however, Arbab Niaz cricket stadium Peshawar will also be used for some of the matches. The tournament will start from 25th January (tomorrow) till Sunday 11th February  2018. Peshawar are the defending champions of the tournament as they knocked out Karachi whites in the final of last year’s tournament by a huge margin of 124 runs at national cricket stadium.

The tournament will be staged on round robin bases where every team will play against every-other team. Top four teams will be playing the semifinals of the tournament at Rawalpindi cricket stadium on 8 and 9 February 2018. Final of the tournament will also be staged at Rawalpindi cricket stadium on Sunday 11 February.

Four matches will held on the opening day where Lahore Whites to play against Lahore Blues at Marghzar Cricket Ground Islamabad, Karachi Whites to see Faisalabad at KRL cricket ground, Rawalpindi, Islamabad to take on Rawalpindi at pindi stadium and Peshawar will vie against FATA at the Diamond cricket club Islamabad.

Seven of the league round matches will be telecast live. Some of the star players will miss out the tournament including former Pakistan captain Salman Butt, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Asif, Yasir Shah and Sohaib Maqsood.

Salman and Wahab was ignored by Lahore region while Yasir Shah will miss the tournament as he is playing Big Bash league and Sohaib Maqsood will not be seen in action because of some family issues.
