National Volleyball Championship enters to quarterfinal stage

Top eight teams through to quarterfinals including the hosts on the day 4 of National Men’s Volleyball Championship.

Pakistan Wapda, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Pakistan Police, Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF), Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa and Pakistan Juniors have qualified for the quarterfinals of National Men’s Volleyball Championship at the POF Sports Complex.

POF team gave tough time to veterans and defending champions WAPDA in the first game and almost won it but the experienced side overcomes the hosts and not only won the first game but also with their aggressive smashes and blocking skills, WAPDA won the second and third game with big margins. POF teams in second and third game were clearly seen frustrated and lost the ball possession too easily against the volleyball giants. WAPDA won the match by 3-0.

Pakistan Army defeated Police in three straight games. Haider and Zeeshan from Army showed their skills of smashing the ball hard and won back to back points. Police lost its temperament against the super fit Army-men and gave up after the first game and lost next two games with big difference.

Pakistan Navy outclassed Azad Kashmir team. Navy won the first two games quite easily, however, Kashmir team showed resistance in the third game but inexperienced side lost the third game by 25-21. In another match, PAF thumped Pakistan board team 3-0. PAF did not get any resistance from Pakistan board team and won the match 3-0. In another encounter, Police easily routed FATA 3-0. Once again FATA team could not stand against the experienced Police team and lost the match.

Hosts POF without some real fight, won the match against Sindh team. In the first game Sindh team attacked on POF side but after losing first game they lost the other two games with big margins. KPK team defeated AJK team 3-1. In the first two games AJK team were down and out but they bounced back and won the third game and almost repeat the result of four game but KPK team kept their cool and won the last game and the match.
In the last game of the day, Pakistan Juniors played quality game to win the match and qualifies for the quarterfinal. Juniors were advancing aggressively and won the two games but Pakistan Board team recovered in the third game and not only won the game but also they fought hard in the fourth game but lost against juniors.

Defending champions WAPDA to face Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the quarterfinal while PAF to play against Police, hosts POF to deal Navy and Pakistan Juniors to challenge Pakistan Army in the last quarterfinal.

  1. Wapda defeated POF 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-11)
  2. Army thrashed Police 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-11)
  3. Navy tamed Azad Kashmir 3-0 (25-6, 25-8, 25-21)
  4. PAF thumped Pakistan Board (25-15, 25-16, 25-18)
  5. Police outlasted FATA 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-14)
  6. POF routed Sindh 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-15)
  7. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beat AJK 3-1 (25-15, 25-18, 22-25, 25-20)
  8. Pakistan Juniors beat Pakistan Board 3-1 (25-14, 25-19, 17-25, 25-20).
