Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) secretary Aamir Nawaz on Tuesday put to rest speculations regarding the bilateral series against Egypt stating that the series would be held as per the schedule in Karachi.

Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) secretary Aamir Nawaz on Tuesday put to rest speculations regarding the bilateral series against Egypt stating that the series would be held as per the schedule in Karachi.

“We’ve made all necessary arrangements for the series against Egypt which will be held as per the schedule,” the PSF secretary said, explaining that the series between Pakistan and Egypt was part of the squash carnival to be held at the newly-built open squash courts at the PAF Museum, Karachi.

“The extravaganza will roll into action on April 4 with two-day contests among country’s junior players which will be followed by series between Pakistan seniors and Egypt top players to be played from April 6 to 7,” he added.

World No. 4 Omar Mossad of Egypt who was to feature in the series would not arrive in Pakistan due to some injury issues, he said, adding: “Egypt has replaced him with World No. 25 Abouelghar whose travelling documents have also been completed.”

Besides Aboulghar, the Egyptian squad includes world No. 7 Karim Abdul Gawad, world No. 6 Tarek Momin, world No. 14 Ali Farag and word No. 17 Mazen Hesham.

To a question he said that several people were in touch with the federation to sponsor the event, adding that he would be holding meetings with them in the next couple of days. “When we’ve not finalised any sponsor for the event as yet how any sponsor could back out jeopardizing the series,” he maintained.

“The Egypt series will be followed by quarter-final, semi-final and final matches of Parco Roshan Khan Squash Championship from April 9.”

“The championship will be held in collaboration with squash legend Jahangir Khan and its pre-quarter-final stage will take place at Pakistan Navy’s Squash Complex in Karachi,” he maintained.
