Waqar Taekwondo Academy wraps title victory of Inter-Club Taekwondo Championship 2019
The 2019 Peshawar Region Inter-Club Taekwondo Championship wound up successfully with Waqar Taekwondo Academy taking home the title at Hayatabad Sports Complex in Peshawar.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taekwondo Association organized yet another mega Taekwondo event which was officially named as "Peshawar Region Inter-Club Taekwondo Championship", into the current year that featured talented fighters from three district parts of Peshawar Region who were competed in eight different weight category competitions.
Participating districts were: Nowshera, Charsadda and Peshawar.
Waqar Taekwondo Academy won the overall trophy by securing 100 points after winning six gold and two silver medals while Iqra was declared as the Best Fighter of the championship that helped her collect a gold medal in her tally.
Peshawar Zalmi Academy took second position trophy after securing 70 points with two golds, four silver and six bronze medals and was followed on the third post by Omer Academy accumulating 30 points with four silver and two bronze medals. Hayatabad Sports Academy settled for the fourth position with six bronze medals.
Players that were able to successfully grab medals are: Zahid, Nouman, Abdul Rehman, Aamir, Shareef, Zaidan, Naseer Ullah and Hamza stood at top claiming gold medals while Uzair, Naseer Ullah, Rauf, Muhammad Hassan, Kabir, Samin, Marwan, Saad and Muzammil won silver medals. Muhammad, Zahid, Atiq, Ehsan, Sana Ullah, Khalid, Ikram, Ibad Ur Rehman, Hassan, Khubaib, Musa, Shahzeb managed to bag bronze medals.
Deputy Representative of United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), Iain Hall alongside President KP Olympic Association, Syed Aqil Shah, AC, Rizwana Dar, DD, Javed Momand, Murad Ali and DSO, Syed Jaffar Shah, Chairman KPTA, Ilyas Afridi, Secretary, Waqar Khan gave away medals, trophies and cash prizes to the position holder teams.
UNHCR's Iain Hall also said that Pakistan is a key ally in dealing with refugees issues and we keep its efforts in high esteem.
