As expected, Haroon Tareen, the best taekwondo fighter from Pakistan, excelled on the very first day of World Taekwondo Championships 2019 which are being held in Manchester Arena, England.

Pakistan Taekwondo Federation have fielded four of its best players to feature in the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships which got underway yesterday. The four Pakistani athletes are: Shahzaib Khan, Haroon Tareen, Rab Nawaz and Naqsh Hamdani.

One of the top notch players from Pakistan, Haroon Tareen, who is featuring in in -58 KG weight class, had his first fight in the world championships where he was up against his strong counterpart from Poland, in which he dominated his fight and completely thrashed his opponent by huge margin of 25-13. Then his second clash was with the European champion from Belgium namely: Laachraoui Mourad and once again he proved his mettle and came out the strongest beating his counterpart by 33-28.

While talking about Haroon's wins, Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Lt Col (R) Wasim Ahmed Januja said:

“I am thankful to almighty that Haroon had managed to win one of the biggest fights of his short international career. 180 countries top athletes are in action, who have all the facilities, no fear of financial hazards and have world’s best coaches at their disposal and even then Haroon prevailed against all the odds. It clearly indicates that we have all the talent and champion material, we just lack in training and facilities. If government spare some time form their other important issues and pay heed towards taekwondo and other sports, we are bound to win international medals.”
Haroon will now have to face the 2016 Olympian, Rui Braganca from Portugal in his next match while another player, Shahzaib Khan will have his fight with Bahruz Guluzade of Azerbaijan today in the M-54 KG weight class.

British Taekwondo have organized the World Taekwondo Championships 2019 which will continue till the 19th of May and is seeing nearly 1,000 of the planet’s best fighters compete in front of a lively crowd to be be crowned a World Champion. This is the first time this competition has been held in the UK.
