4-member Pakistani Tawkwondo team off to Manchester to feature in 2019 World Taekwondo Championships

A four-member Pakistani squad departed for Manchester, United Kingdom to participate in the World Taekwondo Championships 2019 which are slated to be held from 15 to 19 May in Manchester Arena in UK.

British Taekwondo will be organizing the World Taekwondo Championships 2019 from May 15 to 19 which will see nearly 1,000 of the planet’s best fighters compete in front of a lively crowd to be be crowned a World Champion. This is the first time this competition has been held in the UK and it’s one not to be missed!

World Taekwondo Championships 2019 will have all of its five days see the best take on each other in on-off matches across seven taekwondo octagons. Then, once the evening sessions begin, each day will have semi-final and final matches in a cauldron-like atmosphere. 

Participating nations include: Iran, Korea, Rwanda, Cyprus, Tunisia, Bangladesh, Niger, Botswana, Greece, Spain, Pakistan, Chinese Taipei, Algeria, India, Togo, Italy, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Great Britain, Argentina, Kenya, Malaysia, Puerto Rico Eduardo, Cameroon Antoine, Azerbaijan, United States of America, Palestine, Colombia, Jordan , Sweden , Ecuador Carlos, Ghana, Malawi, Denmark, Thailand, Belgium, Nicaragua, Trinidad and Tobago, Israel, Austria, Guyana, Macedonia, FYROM and French Polynesia. 

Pakistan is one of the many countries featuring in this World Championship for which a 4 member squad departed for Manchester so as to prove their mettle, talent and skill in the sport. Shahzaib Khan will be taking part in the M-54 KG weight class while Haroon Tareen will feature in M-58 KG  weight categories. Rab Nawaz and Naqsh Hamdani will also be participating in the fights of M-80 KG and W-57 KG weight classes. 

The participating athletes as being accompanied by Atief Arshad as their Head Coach while Kathy Anne Hook, being their Female Coach. Aneila Afsar, a female taekwondo fighter is also going to represent Pakistan from UK in -53 KG weight category. 

Najia Rasool and Lt Col Waseem Ahmed, President Pakistan Taekwondo Federation are to attend WT Athlete Committee Election and WTF General Council on 14th May, respectively. 

GB's Olympic medalists Jade Jones, Bianca Walkden and Lutalo Muhammad will all be working hard to secure more medals in this championship and gain valuable preparation time ahead of Tokyo Olympics 2020.
