Pakistan Taekwondo Federation names squad for 18th Asian Games

PTF has finalized a 6 member squad for the Asian Games 2018 which are to be held from 18th Aug - 2nd Sep in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia.

Pakistan Taekwondo Federation have revealed names of 3 male and female players each who will be participating in the upcoming Asian Games 2018.

The squad announced is as follows:

Haroon Tareen (-63kg)Shahzadi Sidra Batool (-46kg)
Shahzaib Khan (-57kg)Aneela Ayesha (-49kg)
Mohammad Iqbal (-68kg) Nimra Wasiq (-53kg)


Originally Ijaz Ahmed (-80kg) was selected to represent Pakistan along with the other members of the selected squad but due to injuries he sustained recently, he is not able to take part in the competition.

Haroon Tareen is a bronze medalist of the 2018 Asian G-1 event held in Iran and has been the national champion for last three years.

Shahzeb Khan made his international debut in 2016 South Asian Games in India.

Mohammad Iqbal has represented Pakistan in various events including Korean Open in 2017.

Aneela Ayesha, based in England is a former British Junior champion will be representing Pakistan for the first time on the international stage while Nimra who is based in the United States has already represented Pakistan at several international competitions including the 2017 Senior World Championships in South Korea.

As disclosed by President PTF Lt. Col Wasim Ahmed, Pakistan taekwondo team for the Asian Games 2018 will be accompanied by Korean coach Lee Sung Jae while team manager will be Mrs. Saba Shaheem.
